Are you searching for child inspirational book summaries and recommendations? Here are reviews of three of my favourite non fiction books for children. You can help increase the self esteem of your children by reading with them!
I have two amazing kids...and I’ve been reading to them since before they were born. Did you know that babies are listening to their world from 5 month in utero? That means that everything that is going on in their outside world is affecting their thinking...and they aren't even born yet!
As a student of personal development for over 16 years now, when I became a parent I was interested in understanding how beliefs and self image are formed from such an early age.
What follows below is advice on three non fiction books for children that are my favourites. One of my best recommendations to increase self esteem for children, and learn abundance of money and other daily life lessons. These are not in story or “fiction” format, so much as daily lessons that children can apply to learn valuable relationship skills, and how to change their perceptions, and really dream!
Through all three books, the following messages are reinforced:
1) Creativity, passion & making intuitive choices
2) Positive thinking & it’s influence on outcomes
3) Self esteem for children
Incredible You!: 10 Ways to Let Your Greatness Shine Through
Based on the principles found in Dr. Wayne Dyer’s book Ten Secrets to Success and Inner Peace, this inspirational children’s book has wonderful, vibrant illustrations that really capture kids’ attention.
Some of the lessons to be learned in this book include that sharing good with others is fun, and that children should do what they love, and not let fear hold them back. Really, children are born fearless, aren’t they? Through repetition of parents telling them to “be careful, they might...(fill in the blank: fall, hurt themselves, fail, get a bo-bo etc.) they learn to be fearful.
This is a great book to help our children let their imagination fly, and not worry about the mistakes they made yesterday. What happened in the past was essential to make them who they are today.
Dr. Wayne Dyer does use the word God in this inspirational children’s book, however it is not used in the context of a particular religion, per se. It is used in what I believe is more a "spiritual" context.
Part way through the book Incredible You! there is a series of questions to discuss with your child. I’ve found that in the process reading this book with my daughter, the questions have helped her to learn to immediately use the ideas and see how they can be applied to her everyday life.
This Child Inspirational Book is highly recommended reading to get your kids started early on the personal development path. It will help increase your child’s self esteem, and it’s fun to read too!
It’s not What You’ve Got!: Lessons for Kids on Money and Abundance
In another powerful, influential book for children, Dr. Wayne Dyer teaches a healthy attitude towards money. The language in this book will give children a positive perspective on money and abundance in general.
Some topics include: how kids can dare to believe that they can have what they want, why what they do have doesn’t define who they are, and learning that each job in the world is a blessing.
Again, the theme of children following their own dreams and passions shows up in this book, and I for one, love to have the repetition of this key concept of passion interwoven in this child inspirational book. The message is that where children go in life is largely their choice, and there is enough abundance in the world to go around.
The Questions at the end of the book help children to solidify key concepts, such as naming 5 things they can buy that make them happy, versus 5 things that make them happy that don’t cost anything. The questions are followed by short and sweet affirmations for abundance that children can say with repetition to themselves in order to make them true for them. A special ending to this book is a personal growth affirmation to help your child show gratitude that teaches them to be thankful for all abundance in their lives.
Unstoppable Me!: 10 Ways to Soar Through Life
Based on Dr. Wayne Dyer’s book: What Do You Really Want for Your Children? This is one of my favourite non fiction books for children. It is written in a rhyming format, and has beautiful illustrations.
Some of the lessons learned are the value of persistence, how to welcome unknown experiences, making choices and being true to who they are, and tips on thinking good thoughts to build a healthy mind, body and spirit.
Each tip includes an example right away on the same page on how it might apply to a child’s situation. The benefit of this is that it gives context for the child to further understand the no-limit thinking, and reinforces the positive messages throughout the book.
Questions at the end of the book give parents a basis to start discussions with your child to help reinforce the positive messages. A side benefit of reading this book with your children is that it will influence your own thinking, and bring you ideas on potential solutions to challenges you may be facing.
