What is Gratitude? Why is it Important?

Gratitude is a state of being thankful that puts us in a great vibration. When we say “I am Grateful” we are showing a feeling of appreciation. We want to build a conscious awareness of gratitude for everything in our lives.

Gratitude keeps us connected to our source of supply, or whatever you call energy, God, or the origination of everything.

When we perform reflections of gratitude, we bring the power of our intention into focus, and we can concentrate on it by using our higher faculty of the Will.

Gratitude also includes being grateful not only for what we have, but who we are, the opportunities that have come our way, and the skills and health we might enjoy. It includes our strengths and weaknesses, challenges and gifts. Why should we be thankful for our challenges and problems you ask? They all provide opportunity for us to grow and become more the person we want to be.

By learning how to develop gratitude you can also learn to control your emotions better, and keep a calmness of mind in situations that may be chaotic around you. We can also pay special attention to cultivating an attitude of Gratitude in the Workplace.

Increasing Your State of Appreciation

One of my favourite books that comes to mind to increase your state of appreciation of everything around you is Change your Thoughts, Change your Life by Dr. Wayne Dyer. The primary premise is this: When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change. It teaches softness, gentility, encourages us to work within our own nature, gives ways to practice appreciation and thankfulness, in order achieve a state of harmony and balance. Based on the wisdom found within the Tao Te Ching, Dr. Dyer gives his own interpretation on the writings, and recommends processes to put the Tao into practical application in our lives, right away.
